Day 1: Sokcho, South Korea - Scenic Peaks and Coastal Breezes
Seoraksan National Park Cable Car
Avoid the steep hikes and take the Seoraksan Cable Car up to Gwongeumseong Fortress. It is perfect for families, providing breathtaking views of the mountain range without the physical strain. The base area is flat and stroller-accessible, ideal for a morning stroll among the giant Buddha statues.
Sinheungsa Temple
Located just a short walk from the cable car entrance, this ancient temple features the Great Unification Buddha. The paths are wide and well-paved, making it easy to navigate with kids while enjoying the spiritual atmosphere and mountain backdrop.
Sokcho Beach & The Sokcho Eye

Daepo Port Fishery Market
Famous for its 'Fried Food Street,' this port is the best place to grab dinner. Kids will love the crispy fried shrimp and squid, while parents can enjoy fresh sashimi. The area is lively and bright, perfect for an evening walk by the harbor.
Day 2: Sokcho, South Korea - Market Flavors and Lakeside Fun
Sokcho Central Market
A feast for the senses, this market is famous for Dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken). The aisles are wide enough for a stroller during the morning hours, and the variety of street foods will keep even the pickiest eaters happy.
Abai Village via Gaetbae Boat
Take the famous Gaetbae boat—a small, hand-pulled ferry—across the canal to Abai Village. It is a short, 5-minute ride where kids can help pull the cable. Once there, explore the unique history of the North Korean refugee village and enjoy some Abai Sundae (Korean sausage).
Cheongchoho Lake Park
This lakeside park is a family favorite. It features a flat, 5km circular path and a large playground. It is the best spot in the city to let the kids run free while you enjoy the mountain reflections on the water.
Sokcho Expo Tower
End your trip with a visit to this 73-meter observation tower. It provides a panoramic view of the city, the lake, and the ocean. It is fully accessible via elevator and looks particularly beautiful as the city lights begin to twinkle.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Sokcho is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather is mild and pleasant for outdoor activities, and the fall foliage in Seoraksan is world-renowned. Summers can be hot and humid, while winters are cold but offer beautiful snow-capped mountain views.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the South Korean Won (KRW). While credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, modern restaurants, and the Central Market, it is always a good idea to carry some cash for small street food vendors and the Gaetbae boat ride. Tipping is not expected or required in South Korea.
Getting Around
Sokcho is relatively compact. For families, taxis are the most convenient and affordable way to travel between the city center and Seoraksan National Park. You can use the KakaoTaxi app to easily hail rides. Local buses are frequent, but they can be crowded during peak tourist season, which may be challenging with a stroller.
