Best Time to Visit Maldives
The best time to visit the Maldives is during the dry season from November to April. During these months, you’ll experience clear blue skies, calm seas, and the best visibility for diving and snorkeling. The peak luxury season is December and January, so book well in advance. The wet season (May to October) offers better value and is actually the best time for spotting manta rays in the Baa Atoll.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), but in luxury resorts, all prices are quoted in USD. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) are accepted everywhere, and you will rarely need cash. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory; most resorts add a 10% service charge to all bills. It is customary to tip your island butler and room attendants at the end of your stay.
Getting Around Maldives
Inter-atoll transport is managed primarily by seaplanes and speedboats. Trans Maldivian Airways operates the world's largest seaplane fleet, offering incredible aerial views. For luxury travel, private yacht charters are the most exclusive way to move between neighboring atolls. Within Malé city, taxis are available, but most luxury travelers will be escorted by resort representatives at all times.
