Best Time to Visit Jordan
The ideal times to visit Jordan are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, temperatures are mild enough to explore the ruins of Petra and the desert of Wadi Rum without the scorching heat of summer. Spring also brings beautiful wildflowers across the northern hills. Winter can be surprisingly cold and rainy in Amman and Petra, though it remains warmer in Aqaba and the Dead Sea.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD), which is pegged to the US Dollar. While luxury hotels, high-end restaurants, and large shops in Amman and Aqaba accept all major credit cards, it is essential to carry some cash for smaller markets and tips in more remote areas like Wadi Rum. Tipping (Baksheesh) is a standard part of the culture; 10% is customary in restaurants, and small tips for drivers and guides are highly appreciated.
Getting Around Jordan
For a luxury traveler, the most efficient and comfortable way to navigate Jordan is by private chauffeur-driven vehicle. Jordan does not have a public passenger rail system. For the long journey between the southern coast (Aqaba) and Amman, a domestic flight with Royal Jordanian is the fastest option. Within Amman, ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem are reliable, but a dedicated private driver for the duration of the trip offers the most seamless experience.
