Genting Highlands is a staple for those following a Family Travel Guides style of exploration, offering a unique blend of high-altitude adventure and modern convenience. This itinerary is designed to be epic yet manageable, ensuring that even the smallest travelers can keep up with the fun without the burnout.

We have paced this journey to allow for late starts and plenty of snack breaks, focusing on the iconic highlights while keeping your daily budget in check. Prepare for a mix of indoor theme park thrills and serene cultural landmarks that will keep the whole family entertained.
The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and High-Altitude Views
Awana SkyWay Ride
Start your journey by soaring over a 130-million-year-old rainforest. This gondola lift is stroller-friendly and offers breathtaking views of the highlands. It is the most scenic way to reach the peak.
Chin Swee Caves Temple
Located at the mid-way point of the cable car, this temple is surprisingly easy to navigate with children. Explore the nine-story pagoda and the iconic giant Buddha statue. The sweeping views of the valley are perfect for family photos.
SkyAvenue Shopping Mall
Head to the top and check into your accommodation before exploring this massive lifestyle hub. It features wide walkways perfect for strollers and a huge variety of dining options ranging from local delights to international favorites.
SkySymphony Light Show
End your first day at the Level 1 atrium of SkyAvenue. This free 'theatre of lights and sound' features kinetic winches and massive LED screens that will leave the kids mesmerized by the storytelling and music.
Day 2: Indoor Fun and Interactive Play
Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park
Spend your morning at this massive indoor park. It is climate-controlled and offers plenty of 'Child' category rides that are safe and exciting for younger children, such as the Loop de Loop and Copper Express.
Ripley's Adventureland
Located within SkyAvenue, this zone includes the 'Believe It or Not!' Odditorium and the Jurassic Research Center. Kids love the life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, and the exhibits are engaging for all ages.
SnowWorld
Experience a winter wonderland in the tropics. This indoor snow chamber features slides and a charming European-style village. Jackets and boots are provided, making it an easy add-on for families.
High Line Roof Top Market
Enjoy a relaxed dinner at this food hall which offers an alfresco feel while remaining protected. It’s a great spot to try different types of cuisine in a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.
Day 3: Strawberries and Sweet Souvenirs
Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm
Take a short taxi or shuttle down to Gohtong Jaya. This farm allows kids to pick their own strawberries, a rare treat in Malaysia. The paths are generally flat and easy for little legs to walk.
Happy Bee Farm & Insect World
Located nearby, this educational spot teaches kids about honey production and local insects. You can sample fresh honey and see colorful butterfly displays before heading back to the main resort area.
Genting Highlands Premium Outlets
Wrap up your trip with some shopping at this open-air mall. It is connected directly to the Awana SkyWay and offers great discounts on international brands, plus a large playground to keep the children occupied.
Awana Garden Restaurant
For your final meal, enjoy a farm-to-table experience at this restaurant located near the Awana bus terminal. It offers a quieter, more relaxed environment compared to the bustling peak area.
Best Time & Weather
Genting Highlands is a year-round destination thanks to its cool climate, which stays between 15°C and 25°C. For the best experience, visit between March and September to avoid the heaviest monsoon rains. However, because most attractions are indoors, even a rainy day won't spoil the fun. It is highly recommended to visit on weekdays, as weekends and Malaysian public holidays can see massive crowds and longer wait times for rides.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). While Genting is very modern and most major shops, theme parks, and restaurants inside SkyAvenue accept credit cards and e-wallets like GrabPay or Touch 'n Go, it is wise to carry some cash for smaller stalls at the Strawberry Farm or for tipping. Tipping is not mandatory in Malaysia, but rounding up the bill or leaving a small amount for exceptional service is always appreciated.
Getting Around
Getting around Genting Highlands is very straightforward. The Awana SkyWay (cable car) is the primary link between the mid-hill (Gohtong Jaya/Premium Outlets) and the peak. Once at the peak, most areas are connected by the SkyAvenue mall and indoor walkways, making it very stroller-friendly. For travel to the Strawberry Farm or nearby areas not on the cable car line, the Grab ride-hailing app is highly efficient and much cheaper than standard local taxis.
