Best Time to Visit Brunei
The best time to visit Brunei is between February and April when the weather is generally dry and the humidity is slightly lower. However, Brunei is a year-round destination. Rain usually comes in short, heavy bursts in the late afternoon, which rarely disrupts travel plans for long. Avoid the peak of the monsoon season in November and December if you plan on doing a lot of rainforest trekking.
Currency & Money
Brunei uses the Brunei Dollar (BND), which is pegged 1:1 to the Singapore Dollar (SGD). In fact, Singapore Dollars are widely accepted in Brunei. While major hotels and malls accept credit cards (Visa and Mastercard), you will need cash for the night markets, water taxis, and small local eateries. Tipping is not expected but appreciated for exceptional service.
Getting Around Brunei
Public transport is limited in Brunei, so the best way to get around is using the 'Dart' app, which works similarly to Uber or Grab. For intercity travel to Temburong, the new Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Bridge has made car travel very easy. If you prefer more freedom, car rentals are available at the airport, though driving is on the left side of the road.
