Best Time to Visit Asia
October is arguably the best time to visit the Caucasus region of Western Asia. This shoulder season offers the perfect balance of mild daytime temperatures and crisp evenings. Most importantly, the landscape is transformed by autumn foliage, particularly in the wine regions of Georgia and the Dilijan forests of Armenia. You will avoid the oppressive summer heat and the winter snows that can close high-altitude mountain passes.
Visas & Border Crossings
While Georgia and Armenia are generally visa-free for many Western nationalities, Azerbaijan typically requires an E-Visa, which should be applied for online at least one week before arrival. Note that due to historical tensions, the land border between Azerbaijan and Armenia is closed. To travel between them, you must route through Georgia or take a flight. Always ensure you have physical copies of your E-Visas and hotel bookings for smooth processing at the Sadakhlo border crossing between Georgia and Armenia.
Getting Around Asia
For a luxury multi-country route in the Caucasus, private chauffeured transfers are the gold standard. They offer flexibility for photography stops and wine tastings. Between major cities like Baku and Tbilisi, regional flights are efficient and comfortable. While trains exist, including an overnight sleeper between Baku and Tbilisi, they are often less modern than European counterparts. Within cities, high-end ride-sharing apps like Bolt or Yandex Go are reliable and offer 'Premium' or 'Business' vehicle options.
